Hello everyone! I have returned from my trip to Canada mixing in business and pleasure in promoting the Ethnic World International pageant system and learning about the beautiful province of British Columbia.

My first week there, I learned that I should wear a red poppy flower above my heart to support the veterans and those in service leading up to Canada's Remembrance Day. Every day, I happily displayed the flower everywhere I went to show my gratitude because the flower is an international symbol so I was also supporting our U.S. service(wo)men whilst in Canada.

Each day, I had a taste of diversity with the plethora of ethnic cuisines offered in the province. I had Cantonese, Malaysian, Singaporean and many more Southeast Asian foods that made me wonder why we breed so much hate in our differences when we could just enjoy it beginning with a plate of delicious food.

As an "ambassador," I had the privilege of meeting several women who displayed interest in the Ethnic World International system. I spent time talking to each of them explaining what the system represented and what it could offer them as women to develop and foster their talents. One of the women jokingly said I should become the director for Canada. I laughed at first, but then again...maybe I should be? What do you think, Aiisha? lol I also want to publicly apologize to Lineth Hizon for not being able to make my way to her. If you're reading this, please know I am here for you through other means.

In addition, I spent time with businessmen who not only were impressed with my humanitarian efforts but agreed to be a sponsor for my 2nd Annual Campaign for a Cure. This proves to those disbelievers that there are people who care!

Coming back home to California, I realized that I have a larger calling than I initially anticipated. Being an international ambassador means representing everyone, not just Ethnic World. I have to use my title to promote efforts that will make an impact globally. Everything is done one step at a time. Right now, it begins with my "Campaign for a Cure."
Until next time everyone! Queen Bee is signing out.

Campaign for a Cure for Graves’ Disease UCLA Perimeter Run 10/09/2011

As Miss Southern California Ethnic World, Catherine decided to use her title to create awareness and assist in patient services by educating and fundraising on behalf of the National Graves' Disease foundation. Campaign for a Cure is the Walk/Run that was created in order for the participants to understand the kind of endurance it takes to deal with the disease by passing though the many steep hills that surround the UCLA campus. The event raised over $200 that went directly to the National Graves' Foundation. The money raised is going towards helping increase patient services, research for a cure, and educating others on the disease.

Next year, for the 2nd annual, Campaign for a Cure for Graves’ Disease UCLA Run/Walk, Catherine wants to use larger support systems in order to draw out more media attention and participants to support this cause. In addition, she wants to expand the scope of her fundraising efforts by also raising a "scholarship" that will help a patient in need by donating money towards medical bills for those financially struggling.

"Living with an auto-immune disease is one of the biggest challenges in my life. I have a sisyphean complex where my disease is the boulder I carry up the hill, my medications are my relief as the boulder goes down, and the next day, it begins again," says Catherine about living with Graves' Disease.
